The Third Annual Bicycle GreenUps is a physical, psychological, artistic, sweaty, and metaphorical love song dedication to the bicycle and all of those whose buttocks grace it. Cyclists and bike aficionados from all over Sydney are invited to attend the biggest event of the GreenUps calendar – our October, For the Love of Bikes event. highlights include; latest research from Dr Ros Poulos, Bike Risk Researcher UNSW; Gracious Cycling from Patrick Jones, Bike Wise Director; BFF highlight from Josh Capelin, Director Bicycle Film Festival; Some 'pot-stirring', by FBi Presenter Mickie Quick; Why 2 wheels turning is good for you, body and brain" - Dr Julie Hatfield, Transport & Road Safety Research Centre, UNSW; MC - Jess Miller. Special Treats include a Bicycle Valet service, Gold Sprints, Give aways from MC Cyclery and vintage bike auction by Omafiets Dutch Bikes, film previews, sustainable food, local beer and wine and loads of very firm buttocks!

In 2001 Brendt Barbur, Founding Director, was compelled to start the Bicycle Film Festival after being hit by a bus while riding his bike in New York City. He was inspired to turn this negative experience into a positive one, and created a festival that celebrates the bicycle through music, art, and of course, film. From its roots in New York City, the BFF has grown into a multi-faceted, global event that will travel to over 25 cities this year, from Milan to Tokyo, Minneapolis to Sydney. BFF 2011 showcases a stellar collection of short films, including LAST MINUTES WITH ODEN (winner of Vimeo’s Best Video Award), dramatic documentary about Oden’s struggle with cancer, BIKELORDZ: STUNTS AND STYLES FROM ACCRA, GHANA, showcasing a new interesting bike culture, and BIKE RACE, a bike animation that puts some of cycling’s greats head to head.

Around 400 dapper gents and fancy ladies dressed in Tweed riding vintage cycles will partake in an ambling and elegant ride around Sydney. The ride finishes in Alexandria with a picnic lunch and 'Tweed Games' - tea cup and saucer races. Prizes will be awarded to the best-dressed, best culinary delights and best couples' promenade.

Where: Meet at Town Hall 8am registration for 9am start.
