How to volunteer when you're very busy

Friday, 19 November 2010

Between working, taking care of family and catching up with friends, it’s hard to find time to volunteer, even when you know there’s good causes out there. But that won't stop you if you join in on a one-day event instead...

Green Living Week: part of the Energise Enterprise Festival

23 - 27 August, Melbourne
From 23-27 August 2010, the Master Builders Association Victoria (MBAV) is hosting Green Living Week -three events to bring together architects, builders, tertiary students, and homeowners or developers interested in sustainable design and building technologies and practice. During the week, you can visit some of Victoria’s most environmentally friendly homes when they open their doors to the public for one day to showcase a range of sustainable features and building design. The Green Living Conference will challenge current community perceptions and the need for drivers of change in the industry. It will look at demand for green construction and where it is heading and provide practical building advice, products as well as tours of sustainable commercial buildings. For further event details or to order a copy of the Energise Enterprise event guide, visit www.business.vic.gov.au/energise or ring 13 22 15.

Walk Against Warming

Sunday 15 August 2010, across Australia
Join thousands of families, workplaces and communities in a walk for renewable energy and a safe climate future for our children. Faith groups, unions, environmental and humanitarian organisations, civic leaders, and individuals are uniting in a global call to action. Walk Against Warming is Sunday, 15 August 2010: tell the politicians it's time for them to face up to their responsibilities on climate change. This year's theme will send a clear message during the election campaign: "Walk with the people, not the big polluters".
